The influence of steel ball material selection on manufacturing process
The manufacturing process of steel ball is the key factor to determine its service life. If there are defects in the surface or internal manufacture of steel balls, such as shrinkage, cracks, transgranulation, etc., it will not only reduce the performance of steel balls, but also cause the breakage of steel balls. In the production of steel balls, reasonable forging, casting and heat treatment processes must be formulated. For example, for high chromium cast iron balls, measures such as vertical casting, rational use of external chiller and strict control of casting temperature should be adopted, so that the steel balls can have good solidification sequence and feeding conditions in casting, thus obtaining dense internal structure and weakening the phenomenon of coarse grains. The heat treatment process of steel balls determines the realization of mechanical properties and the distribution of carbides. Because there are some chromium and other alloying elements in the composition of steel balls, how to make full use of these alloying elements to form hard carbides is also a factor to be considered in the formulation of heat treatment process.Wear-resistant steel balls commonly used materials are: low carbon alloy, high manganese steel, high chromium cast iron, high carbon high manganese alloy steel.Low carbon alloy steel balls have better toughness and reasonable price, and their service life is more than 1 times longer than that of low chromium cast balls; high manganese steel has good toughness, which can rapidly produce work hardening in the surface layer of Ai, and its work hardening index is 5-7 times higher than that of other materials, which can effectively improve wear resistance, provided that the wear resistance is greatly impacted. Or under the action of contact stress, it can be realized. High chromium cast iron is a kind of wear resistant material with excellent wear resistance. High carbon high manganese alloy steel is mainly alloy structural steel containing chromium, molybdenum and other elements, with high hardness and good toughness.
